Description

Kerl and Loki quickly donned their armor-like robes, given to them by Chief Harding. ?Well, let?s hope this goes smoothly, with or without the Opsmen.? Kerl turned to his partner. ?It will. It?s just recon- We get in, find out what they?re up to, sit through their B.S. convent, and get out.? The two cops came to a door, which was guarded by a robed cultist wielding what look like an Eresleite?s ceremonial sniper staff. ?Password? the terrorist croaked. The Dzehmuuln fumbled briefly. ?Erm? From Darkness, lead us all to Light.? The guard stood steadfast, before lowering his weapon and standing to the side. ?Enter.? Kerl and Loki brushed by without another word, and found themselves within a rather stereotypical altar room, set up amidst the rusty crates of the warehouse. Several cultists milled about, conversing with one another casually and projecting a surprisingly laid-back atmosphere. ?Well, let?s get to work.? The two were about to do just that when they were each grabbed by the shoulders by a single cultist and lead into a corridor to the side. Before they could object, they were lead into a small room. The first thing Kerl noticed was the vast arsenal of weapons hanging on the wall and the familiar Opsmen field kit sitting in the middle of the room, portable monitor oozing static. The first thing Loki noticed was the nude Eresleite lathering her nigh-flawless body with a strange black fluid, and the fact that she seemed at ease with exposing her body to strangers. ?Honey, are these the two cops we?re shadowing?? The cultist that had lead them into the room slid his armored hood down, revealing himself to be a dark-skinned human male, perhaps African American. ?Sure did, Jik. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Micheal Bergen, Lead Returner. And this?? The Eresleite bowed her head. ?I am Jikael Bergen, Lead Sniper.? Loki and Kerl both lowered their hoods and introduced themselves, and Micheal smiled. ?Oh! Good, we?re all the best in our respective fields. This assignment should be a snap.? Her front now bleached black, Jikael motioned for her apparent fiancée to handle her backside. Kerl recognized the latex-like fluid as the ?Blood of Queens?, a rare sap extract that ancient Eresleites had discovered made a damned good stealth field when exposed to an electrical current. Suddenly, the almost embarrassing act between the two Opsmen seemed a lot more professional: Only the most esteemed Eresle snipers had access to the precious sap. It was then that Kerl noticed their respective prosthetic limbs. ?Hey? You?re the two from the bus stop.? Jikael nodded, apparently oblivious to Micheal?s touch. ?That?s right. And don?t say a word about Opsmen not being allowed to love. We?re the best of the best and we can do whatever the hell we want. The Ascendant said so.? Kerl blinked. ?Never suggested otherwise. So I take it you two are familiar with the assignment?? Now fully black, Jikael donned an electrical armband and simple vanished, much to the still ignorant Loki?s surprise. ?You got it. I?ll be watching from the rafters. Anyone that gets too close to you eats a round of my sniping staff. Micheal will keep watch on the altar area. Good luck.? The door seemed to open by itself, and a fully-robed Micheal followed before closing the door behind him. ?Well, Kerl. That was a little awkward.? Kerl turned to his Synthetic friend. ?You got that right. But I?m familiar with those two, we?re in good hands.? Kerl pulled an SMG from the wall and concealed it under his robes, and Loki grabbed an extra box of Party Gun ammo. ?Let?s get to work, for the second time.? Loki nodded, before a silent klaxon blared. ?Oh. I know that sound. Sounds like Convent started early.? Kerl?s mandibles twitched. ?That?s odd. Well, I guess recon can wait. We can?t be caught wandering around.? The two hurried off, blissfully unaware.
