The Malaptees are an race of insectoid Ecologists from the planet Heliura, from the Streopus star system.

Their homeworld, Heliura is an swamp planet with a dense atmosphere ruled by Arthropods and other Invertebrates such as Malaptees themselves, Insects, Insectoids, Arachnids, Crustaceans, Myriapods, Trilobites, Eurypterids, Horseshoe Crabs, Dinocaridids, Molluscs, Cephalopods, Brachiopods, Hyoliths, Helcionellids, Megacheirans, Gastropods, Bivalves, and many more. The climate on the planet Heliura is somewhat like the Cretaceous period and the oxygen levels are twice the higher as the Carboniferous terran period, allowing Arthropods to grew huge and estabilish the domination of the planet like what the Dinosaurs did on the Earth.

88 million terran years ago after the cataclysm caused by a massive Ice Comet that turned their homeworld into a freezer without a relenting coldness, their earliest relatives emerged. The cataclysm was caused by a similar events to the Cretaceous - Paleogene extinction event, such as the giant Ice Comet with the same size of the Olympus Mons from the planet Mars combined with earthquakes, clathrate gun, blizzards, mass anoxic events, and sea level rise. Immediately after the impact, Heliura would have looked like a snowball.
