The Ardent-class cutters are the bread and butter ships of the Yunan Commonwealth Royal Gendarmerie. Wealthy planets may have their own police forces, but in space and on the frontier, the Gendarmerie enforces the law.

Also, yeah, R-Inc lore wasn't so much of an existing thing back when I was 12 and first conceived of them. Not only expanding the lore, but inventing it I suppose.
