Like the Surisin Research and Development Unit [before it was disbanded and reformed as the New Finnversal Research and Development Guild], the Surisin Intelligence Service, despite carrying the "Surisin" name, does not answer to the Omni-Empire and works as an independent, autonomous entity. While the "SiS" does often work with the Omni-Empire, it's only because they want to.

The Surisin Intelligence Service was founded to gather knowledge and secrets of other species in the galaxy, but once the creature only known by the name "Giovanni" became the president of the service, he began spying even on his own people. Some who knew him before his rise to power say that his motto was, "Trust none, and you can never be double-crossed."

To distance himself from his own organization, Giovanni handpicked five of the best intelligence officers within the service's employment and formed the "Hand of Giovanni," granting each of them the title of "Agent Paramount." These Agent Paramounts, also known as the "Five Fingers," were scrubbed of their pasts and given new names:
Pinky, Ring, Index, Medietas, and Thumb.
They would have unrestricted access to all the information gathered by the Intelligence Service, and they would only answer to Giovanni through his myriad of proxies. Naturally, the Agent Paramounts were expected to keep an eye on each other as well, as nobody is above suspicion under Giovanni's watchful but ever-distant eye.

Agent Paramount "Index" of the Surisin Intelligence Service is an enigma wrapped in another enigma. She prefers the spotlight over shadows, as she often arranges extravagant parties for the ultra-rich on the planet Visibilis?which she owns entirely and has converted into one of the largest vineyards in the galaxy. The rich and powerful all seek to be invited to Index's parties, but only the rare few receive an invitation. Yet, her banquets never lack for celebrants...

"Ah, Agent Zarell, take a seat. Would you like a glass of wine to ease the conversation? I know we're both at work, but... well, it's a good vintage, from before I owned Visibilis in its entirety," said the elegant female Surisin sitting behind her desk. Her fingers were interlaced, elbows propped on the edge, and her face was a mask of calm.

"Thank you, Lady Paramount, but no. I'm not fond of the drink," Zarell replied as he settled into the seat. He felt distinctly out of place in the luxurious office, with its expensive décor. The seat he sat in alone likely cost more than the average annual salary for most agents and was almost certainly worth more than the contents of his entire apartment. "I hope this is not going to be too much of a drain on my time. I have a number of things I am responsible for."

"Of course, Agent. This won't take long," the lady replied with a faint smile, leaning back in her chair and taking a sip of wine. She paused, savoring the flavor for a long moment before setting the glass down, then continued, "The destruction of the colony of Klemendia, how is your investigation going so far?"
