?Fine!? Shabuz roared, as he sunk his claws deeper into the structure. He aimed the tower?s guns up towards the ceiling, unleashing a barrage of explosives. As the blasts wrecked the hall?s ceiling, debris began to rain down. Shabuz shielded himself by forming a dome of metal around him.

Suddenly the room went bright with light, as a roar of thunder announced the arrival of the Pilgrim. Bolts of lighting scoured the room, incinerating anything that moved. Anything but the mutant hiding under a dome of steel.

After their opposition was naught but ash, Shabuz shed his protective barrier. Before him floated the huge kuh-makeen, with currents of electricity still leaping between his tentacles.

?What the hell, Pilgrim? I thought you couldn?t wield lighting for combat!?

?Odd. I couldn?t before.?

?The blarb you mean by that??

?It means that the restriction has been lifted. Meaning the Titans have need of me.?

?The Titans are sponsoring our mission here? Well, how nice of them. Here I thought they were a bunch of inconsiderable jerks.?

?It?s not our mission that has awoken their interest, Shabuz. No.. they need me somewhere else. Something is going on with drak-oceens.?

?For blarb?s sake.. don?t tell me you?re going to bail on me now.?

?I?m sorry, angry one. I?ll help you finish this mission, but then I have to go. This.. this feels important.?

?Ugh.. fine. Got any idea how to proceed? The doors of this hall are tough. I have a feeling the control room is right behind that door, but no amount of lightning is gonna get past that.?

?Hmm. We?d need a battering ram of some kind. A big one.?

Shabuz stared at the large kuh-makeen for a moment. What the heck was he going on about now? Always with the metaphorical lessons, cryptic hints and blarb. His gaze then began to wander around the room. Did he need to figure out some secret meaning to..

His gaze stopped at the guard tower at the centre of the room.

?Oh. Yeah, that?ll work.?

After using the tower?s guns to destroy its base, then lifting it in the air via combined manipulation of electromagnetism and using it to bash the door to the control room, the two managed to reach the admin consoles and manipulate its electric circuits to unlock all the cells.

There were some initial scuffles between the traumatised subjects of Antanne Corp?s genetic engineering, but the Pilgrim and Shabuz managed to guide the mutants out of the facility towards the rescue ship they had hidden nearby, while frying any intervening Antanne reinforcements.

Soon enough, they were out in space, making distance between the planet they?d escaped from and themselves. Shabuz entered the bridge of the ship, where the Pilgrim awaited.

?How are they?? The Pilgrim asked.

?Wary. Most of them have lost their memories.?

?We?ll take them to Kuh-Suurius, they?ll get help there. Then, we?ll have to part ways for a while.?

?So you can go fight for the Titans, then.?

?It?s not such a direct call. It?s.. difficult to explain. I just feel an imbalance, one that only I can fix.?

?But you said it?s important??

?Yes. Very.?

?Fine. Then don?t delay. Take one of the smaller ships, and go do whatever you need to do. I?ll finish this mission and then join you.?

?What about your quest for vengeance against Antanne Corp??

?You want my help or not? Stop wasting time, and get going already.?

?I will. Thank you, Shabuz.?

The Pilgrim left the room, leaving Shabuz alone in the bridge. What did he get himself into, now? A fight that wasn?t his. But the Pilgrim had done the same once, and since then, together they had saved hundreds of lives.

Following the Pilgrim had not steered him wrong yet. In fact, it was the only thing that quelled his rage within. So wherever it was this path would lead them, Shabuz would follow.
