Description
The Lockheed D-21 is a supersonic reconnaissance drone to be launched from a mothership. WS: 19 ft (5.8 m) L: 43 ft (13 m) This small drone was designed to be launched from an M-21 aircraft which is a variant of the A-12. (The A-12 was the predecessor of the SR-71.) The small drone could exceed Mach 3 in speed and operate at about 90,000 ft (27,000 m). The drone was to carry a camera to take pictures for reconnaissance and could release the camera for retrieval. Sadly, the tests didn?t go well for the mothership and the drone due to some accidents. A Boeing B-52 Stratofortress became its foster mothership. In the end, these didn?t go too well with getting the drones back. So this whole plan was canceled.
Note: The B-52 has two little D-21's, one under each wing, which it carries. You may use this creation, but please keep 321Aerobird in the tags.
