Description

The Tachyon Jumpgate is the latest development in order to link the planets of the galaxy together. Ships that enter the gate are held in place by tractor beams, then swiftly broken down into tachyon particles, which are siphoned through the jump cannon and reassembled at the other side of the linked gate. The biggest limitations on the technology are that each gate can only be linked to one other, and cannot freely change links. Also, there is currently no monitoring or scanning system in place to determine if peaceful or hostile craft use the gate. Therefore, these structures are usually guarded
