Description

Location: Sandy Grave - Final Level.
This distant relative of the Flint Beetles runs around the desert surface at breakneck speeds, snapping up anything unfortunate enough to get close to its mandibles. The quick turns it makes cause this arthropod to be highly unpredictable. The spikes on its sides (Which should be covering ALL of its sides... a%*#@ Complexity Meter...) make non-purple pikmin flinch apoun contact. As this boss zips around faster than anything else in the game, it snaps up a Pikmin every half a second, with an audible clacking noise. Keep your Pikmin away from the head! A bad toss can just land your pikmin into the creatures maw. Purple Pikmin can beat on the sides, but they are armored. So it does take a while. The antennae are the weak spot, but it is very difficult to hit, and this boss CONSTANTLY moves around in tight winding circles at unfair speeds. The best way to beat it is to lob a Purple Pikmin at its head, which will cause all of the Pillipede's sharp teeth (Which the Meter ALSO kept me from creating...) to smash into the ground and stick. The Pillipede will thrash helplessly as the head is jammed into the rocky floor for 5 seconds. Use this opportunity to cover its sensitive antennae in raging pikmin. Once it pulls itself out, it looks around, makes two clacks, and begins running again. It takes quite a while to realize it is under attack and shakes off Pikmin much less frequently than other bosses. Once it is defeated, bring out the champagne, because you've just defeated one of the hardest bosses in the game. Bad news. After defeating it in its own cave, it will appear on the desert surface every couple of days. If I were you, I'd just plain avoid it and hope for the best. (It does cover a lot of ground.) Also, this boss reappears in the last cave on Sublevel 12. Made for my upcoming Pikmin adventure.
