Description
The Hueller, affectionately known as the "Howler" amongst troops, can bring an entire platoon, including light vehicles directly into combat from orbit. The ship has a crew of five: pilot, co-pilot, gunner, top deck loadmaster and lower deck load master. It can carry up to 50 fully equipped heavy infantry soldiers on the lower deck. The upper deck is for light vehicles; max capacity is three APC's, or more smaller vehicles. Trops may exit from two drop ramps in the front and rear. Vehicles load and unload via a large ramp beneath the tail section which does not interfere with troop egress. The Hueller is armed with two cheek mounted ball turrets, each armed with a pair of heavy, armour piercing, assault cannon below and a medium particle cannon above. This ensures that the Hueller can protect itself during descent and drop off. The Huellers landing gear is retracted in this image; the nose hatch is visble and the side gear is contained within the boxy protrusions between the side vertical thrusters. The powerful vertical thrusters allow the Hueller to "hot drop"; to come in with excessive speed, making for a more difficult target, and then decelerate hard for touchdown. They also ensure a speedy lift off once debarkation is complete.
