Shrapnell dying actually had nothing to do with Destati. Destati was satisfied with what he had done, so he left, but a seperate entity (I can't recall if he was working with Destati at the time, it was a REALLY long time ago I made this up)...

Meanwhile, Destati finally breaks free, and goes off, hoping to befriend the Titicans, and catches a glimpse of Zaphine killing everybody. This traumatises him and he vows to avenge them, so he went on a rampage, destroying planets and killing people...
