Curiously, most of Spore activity is actually within Sporepedia, usually revolving around popular creators like Odonost (yeah as you can tell there is a more established oligopoly but it doesn't have the huge barrier to entry like before)

I suggest looking at the creations of Odonost to see who's still active. He/she's one of the stars of the new Spore community.

There's still a good amount of people playing. You just have to know where to look (you could look at the MPN and the comments of popular creators to start)
