2: What character dies first? :D If the character is solo, you wont have to worry about this, but if its a group or whatever, HAVING THAT CHARACTER (as long as it isnt the main character) DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH IS A GREAT WAY TO ADD SERIOUSNESS

1:The Conflict of the story. A serious conflict can be something like a family member dying, a situation between life and death, etc. DONT MAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS: Lolman ate my halloween candy. so im gonna cry like a moron. in a serious story.

If you want to add humor, your gonna want to do it like the Halo games do it. and have a decent blend of serious moments and humorous moments.
