Four years... I started in 2009.
It isn't EA, though.
It is Maxis. They went off to Dark Spore, neglecting Spore (like they completely jumped ship, all at once)... Now they shut down Dark Spore, and never came back to what could be a thriving community.

It didn't make the bucks to make it necessary to keep updating it. The fact they're keeping the online functions working is the best we can get.

A sequel maybe but as many people will likely tell you the game is to old to justify an update. Some maintenance on the website however would be much appreciated.

We've seen more support from EA in the past year than we have in several years. We've gotten new servers, new featured creations, and sn actual update in the news feed.
