Description
Who likes a strong opinion of theirs to be disassembled; to be proven wrong? Absolutely no one. No one in history has felt joy from witnessing a part of their ideological compass proven to provide misdirection. This is due to the intense emotional connection to ideas and morals that rears its ugly head when such ideas are challenged, or especially compromised. However, I encourage everyone not to look back in shame following such experiences, still clinging to broken egos and shattered opinions, but to instead reflect, build up from the experience, use it to strengthen your side, or even change it to a stronger, more refined position that you identify with (and hey, debate with.) I encourage you to listen to a wide variety opinions on many issues, absorbing as much as possible with the cleanest possible ears, sniffing out bias and loaded words, and seeking nothing more than to understand. That is the best way to ensure the strongest basis on where you stand, because you understand where other parties stand as well, and can better understand how we as humans interpret and handle moral challenges as we live these messy lives of ours.
I say this a lot, and I'll say it again: always keep an open mind. Some things aren't just black and white.
