Description
A sentient, Dragon-like species that are closely related to gryphons. Despite their naming, they have little to no similarities with Raptors, excluding behavior.
They're extremely crafty, and can perform many tasks with their forelimbs and claws.
Their society is heavily based around a 'pecking order.' In the tribe, there typically are 1-2 leaders, or Alia's, and then the rest of the pack. If a chick is born into the lower ranks, its extremely difficult, almost impossible for it to rise. Usually, Rypogrypons stay in the rank they're born in until they die.
The lesser ranks have significantly less plumage than the higher classes. They tend to be more dull in colors as well. Females and Males have equally bright scales and plumage, but females usually have smaller, more round feathers.
Currently, there are two living Alia's, Alialoro and Aliahira. The next Alia is determined at birth. When the next heir is hatching, the egg will turn a shiny silver color, almost like a miniature star. Eggs are usually laid in clutches of 3. Nests with more than five eggs will almost always contain a runt.
A runt, no matter the ranking born into, will always be placed at the lowest rung on the ladder. Even if it was the offspring of a Alia.
