Description
The Fracture+ (read as Fracture Plus) is a fighter produced by the Raylan-Mach Corporation, a relatively small aerospace firm composed mostly of Zir and Finbari personnel. Introduced shortly after the dawn of the 4th fighter generation, the Fracture+ boasts flight performance that puts it at the level of superfighters. However, actually classifying it as a superfighter would be a bit of a technical error, since the craft was not designed from the ground-up as a superfighter. Instead, RLM?s engineers opted to create an upgrade package for the existing Fracture fighter craft. This way, existing Fracture operators could simply order an upgrade package, while prospective clients could choose between the standard or Plus model straight from the factory.
During the golden age of the megacorporations, Raylan-Mach was a relatively small corporation compared to their peers in the aerospace industry. While giants such as Stellar Dynamics, Zeno and Radix had the financial muscle to easily develop superfighters from the ground-up, smaller firms such as RLM were limited to more humble ventures. Dissatisfied with the prospect of losing the premium aerospace market to these larger forces, RLM?s head of operations personally headed the development of the Fracture upgrade package, vetoing any alternative proposals that would take more time or effort.
The resultant Fracture+ bears a strong resemblance to the base craft, with most of the modifications and additional thrusters mounted in the wings, but its performance is worlds apart.
