The Ar'aii Kuvah are a technologically advanced yet highly traditional civilization of invertebrate bipeds, originating from the isolated mountainous cryovolcanic world of Xpherrah'aii. Their dystopian, nanite-powered dominion is infamous for having brought the planet's entire native fauna under absolute control through the usage of the nanite drone swarms, reducing every single local species to a miserable existence of servitude, entertainment, and protection of their masters (even at the cost of their own life), the Ar'aii Kuvah.
Their society is governed by a rigid hierarchial feudal structure, with those at the lowest castes often being subjected to complete psychic domination by their Matriarch-Superiors (who essentially are feudals of their society). Several centuries ago, the Ar'aii Kuvah became the center of a widespread controversy within their star cluster after secretly attempting complete nanite subjugation of a sapient pre-FTL civilization, which ended in a planetary catastrophy, wiping out an entire culture and completely destroying their sapience (and the original species going extinct decades later, despite the Interstellar Council's attempts at preservation). The Synaptic Dominion of Matriarch-Eternals (who are essentially the never-changing ruling bloodline) had denied any allegations or responsibilities.
