Little more than a cylinder with guns, radiators, and rockets, the Thistle class interceptor is a very cheap combat vehicle developed by EverCorp to defend their cargo ships from privateers. They are armed with two CWIS turrets and four external torpedo launchers (which are essentially a box of 4 torpedoes bolted to the hull).
The Mk-1 Thistle was only used by EverCorp and was not commercially available. They were designed to be docked to EverCorp cargo ships and could rapidly launch to defend their mothership should it come under threat. However, this made them entirely dependent on the cargo ship for transport, fuel, etc. The Mk-2 variant was given a MUCH larger fuel tank and many of its systems were simplified; letting it have a wider mission profile than its predecessor, all the while being much cheaper. This came at a cost however, as it was not as powerful as other combat vessels in its size range. While it was rarely seen in the navies of large nation states, the Mk-2 Thistle was quite popular with navies that couldn?t afford the more expensive ships as they were a perfect, cheap combat vessel for patrol or guard duty. And due to the ubiquity of EverCorp in both the solar system and colonies, they were easy to get replacement parts for.
