Description

Made for Exploraziode's Native American Contest - there's still time to enter, check out the details on his page! ***** Waakkohno is a Comanche latticed day cradle used for infants. The supporting boards in the back were rubbed with a reddish brown pigment then decorated with silver tacks. The sides of the cradle are adorned with pieces of silver and turquoise. A soft blanket was used to swaddle the infant inside of the buckskin or buffalo hide used to construct the cradle itself. I love this version of the Waakkohno, I have many pictures of my son in one just like this when he was first born.
