Description

Time: During Fatalyze?s assault on Niret Kunor. Lord Skull chopped the head off of a lunging shadow beast, its body dissipating into wisps of darkness when it hit the ground. The Outcast raised his axe again, slowly making his way through the halls of the battle fortress. Everywhere, he heard the clash of weapons throughout the ship. Skull rounded a corner to be ambushed by a twisted, multi-armed beast. It roared and jabbed its bladed appendages. Skull ducked and dodged every blow, grabbing an arm and cutting it off. The beast howled in pain, while Skull chopped off its legs and knocked it to the floor, brutally stabbing it in the head as it cried in agony before dissipating into the wisps of darkness. ?Damn beast,? Skull growled. Another sound from behind him. Skull recognized it. It was a mechanical slithering sort of noise, something the Outcast leader had gotten quite accustomed to. Skull turned to be face to face with his long-time acquaintance, Venner. The Outcast sighed and looked around, to make sure no one was watching. The halls were clear. ?What are you doing here?!? Skull demanded as he whipped around, beckoning Venner into a more shadowed area. The mechanical immortal cracked his massive jaws before speaking. ?You seem to have gotten side-tracked. I was expecting that delivery about a cycle ago,? the former tyrant hissed. Skull sighed in annoyance, putting back his axe. ?Look,? Skull rasped, ?I?ve been busy. An ?alliance? with Solace and Sacron, a meeting with Icarax?s little genocidal creatures, and now an attack by the demigod of darkness. I will deliver the goods as soon as I can.? Venner?s fangs rattled, mechanical clicks and whirs produced by the action. ?I?ve been with you for a long time, Skull. We planned this together. I will want my side of the bargain very soon.? The Outcast leader put a finger up as crawling was heard down the hallway. It passed and the isolated immortal relaxed for a fraction of a click before continuing. ?In time, old friend. The others, even my own team members, don?t know of this yet. Sacron will provide the necessary powers to guide us forth again. Solace can provide us cover and protection. But when I have what I want; you can discard of them however you please before we move on.? Venner hissed, black liquid bubbling from deep within his maw. ?Time changes, and so must our plans,? he said poisonously, ?Gigater is hunting Sacron as we speak, and he?s heading in an all-too direct course for you guys. Also, the Whisperer in Shadow is still making his move.? Skull was silent, looking away. Venner continued. ?The Circle of the Prophecy is closing. Events are moving faster then anticipated. The Spirits of the Eternal Shadows have returned, there are even rumors of? Him? coming to wreck havoc on this universe once again, and the deadliest one of them all: the Fallen One and his Dark Hungerers?? Another series of footsteps, and the two fell silent again before it disappeared. ?We must hasten our process before we too are consumed in everlasting death,? Venner hissed, ?And if we fail, I?m making sure I have your head in my claws before everything dies.? Skull glared at the tyrant. ?We will not fall! I promise you. The Prophecies from that Cult of the Fallen One have proven true so far, yes, but we will not be among the casualties this war will have. We will defy fate if we must to survive!? There was a long pause before Venner receded into the shadows again. ?I hope you keep your promises, Skull,? Venner whispered as he faded. Skull watched as the mechanical serpent vanished once more. And Skull also hoped he would be able to fulfill his own desires and deals.
