Description

(all credit for creation goes to shortbreadtom)
For nearly 4 centuries since its founding, the Alliance was dormant in terms of technological development. Much of the resources in the galaxy were devoted to repairing the damage from the catastrophic Celestial War.
At a certain point, the Alliance had pretty much fixed all the damage in Anea, and finally begun devoting their attention to RaD. With an unprecedentedly massive and driven workforce, the Alliance discovered, invented and developed many new and useful technologies.
This general pattern continues on to this day. However, after all this time, the IGA has become very, very, very advanced. The Alliance can almost classify as an Elder Race.
With such technology, many of the ails and illnesses of modern civilization were cured. Interconnection reached a peak point; everyone is in contact with each other at any given time. Information is so widespread, that some question the need for education. Even AI can interpret information for younger citizens now. Almost everything that can be known is known, and the very relevance of certain branches of research are at question.
In the better parts of the massive stretch of IGA space, the situation has nearly reached a state of euphoria. Everything is near perfect, in an almost disturbing way. The skyline of virtually every IGA world is lined by massive towers of glass and green urban landscapes. Overpopulation seems like a far-fetched dystopian fiction. As artificial intelligence and special quantum technology continue to advance, the nations of the IGA might soon reach a turning point where the physical realm may soon prove inadequate. Technology already exists that allows beings to transcend the physical realm and achieve virtual immortality. What does not exist, however, is the technology to bring them back.
All of this contrasts against the allied frontlines, a brutal battlefield where the old nature of life reveals itself. There is often a strong disconnect between returning soldiers and their families, as the battle-worn men soon find themselves estranged by the utopian homes they had left long ago.
Though a majority of its citizens are happy, strangers to the IGA landscape may find it 'deprived of soul' due to the utter lack of imperfection, the kind that gives other places a warm feeling.

-the technology of the salvaged ships

Regardless, to say the UNG engineers were in awe of how technologically advanced said ships were is an understatement. However, due to a public dis-interest in war, and lack of funding. As well as a possible time-space rift, they decided not to utilize-

-and then put them in the part of the great galactic museum that they call "crap we brought through the multiverse portal"

The UNG (My faction) have existed for more than 500,000 years. They sometimes find destroyed IGA ships while in their multiverse exploration programme. They smuggle the ships, try to erroneously rebuild them-

Yep. It's the simple things that make life worth while

Monotony takes grip, there is no room to struggle or learn, and before long, that which once drove you is a shadow of the past. You become a shell, and nothing inside remains. It is a scary prospect. A depression of gods.

I see the beauty and despair in this; quality is peaked, everything and anything possible is accomplished, and dreams coast the horizon. Yet, when all is too perfect, too refined, no longer subject to error, where is the drive?
