Description

(Vi pronounced as in ?Victory?) The Vizen-class is the premier light frigate design of the Finbari stellar navy. It was created according to the latest and most pertinent combat data of its time, designed to excel in long-range battle against Tzekleth bioships.

The Vizen was a very successful vessel during the Celestial War thanks to its hefty armament of four primary railguns, double the amount typically found on a vessel of its size. Additionally, the vessel was very adept at escaping sticky situations - such was when a Celestial swarm manages to get into close range - since its primary engine is so powerful, it can simply run away with no risk.

Like most, if not all Finbari ships, the Vizen sports an incredibly sleek and rounded exterior, its lithe shape seeming almost ornamental at times. However, the truth is that every single design choice on the Vizen has been made deliberately and with a great deal of care and thought. In fact, it is actually the Finbari who consistently make the most pragmatic and efficient naval designs. This is because their naval vessels are designed around a sturdy and efficient ?core? that runs the whole length of the ship, with everything else on the ship merely shrink-wrapped around it.

A Finbari ship?s core contains all the vital components needed for it to run, such as its shield generators, main power source, command center and FTL system. Cores are produced by separate, dedicated core-manufacturers according to the navy?s standardized plans; this allows for the same core to be used for different ship classes, so long as they are the same type of naval vessel (frigate, cruiser, etc.) This is contrary to Zir designs which take after the more conventional ?bulkhead? style of construction, commonly found on old nautical vessels. An additional bonus offered by this layout is the fact that long, spinal weapons such as massdrivers and railguns can be very conveniently attached to the barrel-shaped core. Once the final layer of armor and modular plating has been fitted on top, the result is a highly compact, elegant and effective warship design. It?s no wonder then that the GSC?s vessels, and by extension almost all the navies in Anea after the Celestial War, would take after the Finbari?s minimalist approach to shipbuilding.
