Description

The Jammer Form is the lethal nexus of the Celestials? electronic warfare strategy, capable of disarming an entire fleet without firing a shot.

The Jammer Forms have a bizarre appearance, even compared to other Celestial automatons. Analysis of its overall shape quickly reveals that survivability was not a major concern to its designers, and the presence of only a single gravimetric node at its rear indicates it wasn?t made for speed, either. While the large dome atop its head serves a clear purpose, housing the machine?s full suite of electronic warfare equipment, the four pods on its arms are a bit more enigmatic to those not in the know. However, as those who have faced it in combat can readily testify, the pods are actually the Jammer Form?s deadliest asset.

Any Celestial fleet of notable size has at least a single Jammer Form somewhere in the mix, usually hiding deep within the safety of the fleet?s defensive net. Outside of combat, Jammers usually act as early warning craft, scanning for signs of enemy activity from as near as a few kilometers up to several light years away. Once an engagement has started, the Jammer Form?s radome will spring to action, broadcasting highly disruptive EM waves across the entire spectrum. This usually messes with the enemy?s radar and comms, and renders most guided munitions ineffective, though it has no effect on the Celestials? own communications.

When a fight is particularly tough, however, a Jammer will make use of its four deadly pods. Contained within each pod are millions of special ?hacking? nanites capable of locomotion even without any moving parts. Taking advantage of obscure loopholes in the laws of physics at very small scales, these hacker nanites swarm out of their pods and quickly latch onto the closest enemy ship in sight, whether that?s a nimble fighter or a large warship. If the craft is shielded, then they slowly chew through the shielding until it has faltered. Once they are linked to the hull of the craft itself, their programming kicks in and injects a deadly virus into the craft?s electronics, capable of penetrating through even the toughest of firewalls.

Once the nanites have gained control, there is no going back. The enemy vessel has now been subsumed into the Celestial Machine Network, and any lifeforms inside are quickly purged through whichever means are available. The local section of the Network then gets to decide the ultimate fate of the compromised vessel, and whether it should be destroyed or kept for further analysis.

On the other hand, if it was a drone or any kind of autonomous vessel that was compromised, then the AI gets incorporated into the Celestials? Network and proceeds to attack its former allies. Due to their lack of any other failsafe or backup analog capability, drones in particular were very vulnerable to Jammer swarm attacks. This was clear from the very beginning of the War, when the first wave of Anean forces quickly watched as their loyal wingmen turned against them. It is for this reason that drone fighters, despite all their pre-war hype and notable advantages over conventional manned craft, were all but abandoned during the Celestial War.

If you think that the Corruptors and Jammers are scary cause they're mass-produced (though both seem to be in limited numbers based on the lore), just wait till I get to the fourth age, Tiamat created some interesting designs for her Primordials

It's all connected.

Yes, these are all for an adventure, the assets shared but the adventure itself keeps failing to upload and disconnects me. :l
