Description

The original inhabitants of the world Keeski. Keilds were curious, intelligent, and empathetic creatures, with a diverse civilization and religion known as the Fourfold. Although cultures across their planet varied, one thing was shared common between all keild-kind: the thirst for adventure.

Indeed, it was common for a keild to leave their life behind and go see the world. It was almost like a ritual that each keild young would go through, one common all over Keeski. During one of these adventures, a party of young warriors stumbled upon an undiscovered valley of strange plants. They were tired from their journey, and decided to rest, and see if the herbs were edible.

Turns out, the herbs did more than serve as seasonings. They made their eaters transform. Some turned taller, some more nimble, some grew armour on their arms and some grew an extra tail. The herbs, or Herbs, as their importance became apparent, held the power to change keild physiology, based on how they were processed.

The band of adventurers went on to use their new abilities to go on even greater adventures. They fell monstrous beasts, and defeated hordes of evildoers. They became known as Xoc, meaning ?knight? in the local keild language.

The band of Xoc went on to recruit those they deemed worthy, sharing with them the secrets of the Herb. Their ranks grew until they formed their own settlement. Through centuries, the settlement of Xoc developed into a city, then a nation. Thus was born Xocal?Inac, the ?Home of Knights?.

Its inhabitants, ones that came to be known as ?Xocals?, had grown quite different from the usual keild. It became a norm to transform one?s limbs and tail into a tough exoskeleton, one?s ears into horns, as well as various other changes inside the body that prolonged life and granted strength.

Xocals created their own traditions, abandoning the Fourfold in favour of spiritualism and knightly discipline. The Code of Xocal, the phrase of ?Strike the Evil, Shield the Good?, became embedded in their culture as they still followed their inner call to adventure, only now focusing their desire on travelling to nations under their vassalage to protect them from threats, whether a beast or a ?barbarian?, as they came to consider those who had not ingested Herb.

Their expansion and cultural emphasis on power made their neighbouring nations feel uneasy. Most keilds worshipped the Fourfold, and came to see xocals as abominations of the natural order. It didn?t help that those among xocals who broke their ?Code of Xocal'' were banished from Xocal?Inac, and these troublemakers would sometimes resort to abusing their strength to raid and pillage nearby villages, lending to a bad image of all xocals.

Eventually these tensions sparked war. But despite advancements in technology, the brute strength of xocals saw them through to victory. Their nation of Xocal?Inac became the ruling Queendom of Keeski, with numerous Courts established to rule over new provinces.

As neither strength nor faith was enough, the remaining opposers of xocal focused their efforts on their last resort: the power of science. Or to be more precise, the power of nuclear bombs. After bombing one xocal city, the threat of these ?barbarians? became the utmost priority to Xocal?Inac. A crusade was called, one to unite all planet under the Code of Xocal.

The last war for Keeski was vicious, and saw the end to most of its cultures. With no one left to oppose them, the Queendom of Xocal?Inac kept developing, eventually discovering the secrets of space travel, and becoming the xocals we know today.

These days, the word ?keild? is known as nothing more than the word for a xocal who has neglected their standard Herb rituals that each xocal whelp goes through in their early life. Such xocals are regarded either as sick or strange weirdos, and are deemed unsuited to serve as anything other than a common labourer.
