The last figure of history that the historians of Locaria believe to be connected to the origin of the name ?Benjami? is that of Saint Mii.

Long after the galaxy was freed from the hold of the Undead King and the threat of the Loathsome, the people of the galaxy were free to settle the galaxy as they wished.

One of these peoples, previously content hiding within the centre of the galaxy as its radiation provided protection from both the undead and the loathed, now saw opportunity. They spread out from the centre, expanding their poisonous reach through the galaxy?s arms.

They were the Corrupted.

Before the Corrupted began their expansion, the galaxy had been prosperous, led by its most prominent nation, one many referred to as the Lightbringers. Many revered them as gods, especially after they vanquished the Prophet of Death. Since then, they?ve been blessing the galaxy with their powers. It was said that seeing one granted three and a half years of luck.

Many sought to learn the ways of the Lightbringers, but only few were allowed to enter their world. Mii was one of those few.

Those who showed promise, those who could create Light in the galaxy, were permitted to join the Coven of Mysticism, led by the Mystic himself. The oldest of the Lightbringers, perhaps the oldest being in the galaxy.

Mii was one of the Mystic?s disciples. Mii had sought to learn to wield Light, in hopes of using it to protect his home world. His world was near the border of the Corrupted territory near the centre, and the tales of their wickedness had caused Mii to search for guidance.

When Mii had revealed his concerns to the Mystic, the old Lightbringer grew sad. He revealed to Mii that the Corrupted were not always so. But in the Lighbringers? journey to become the greatest Light in the galaxy, they had grown to cast a long shadow. The Corrupted were that shadow.

Mii was shocked to learn the truth, that the feared Corrupted were a creation of the Lightbringers. He then wondered if there was a way to cleanse them of their poisonous corruption, but the Mystic told him there was no point in trying anymore. They had become evil and darkness personified, beyond saving.

Eventually the Corrupted attacked, and the Lightbringers were their first target. With their wicked contraptions, they blocked the Light, and robbed the Lightbringers of their power. The war was brief. The Lightbringers were decimated.

Few survived the massacre. Mii was one of those few.

Mii felt conflicted. He had grown to love the Lightbringers, and felt sorrow for their deaths. And yet, he felt there must be hope for the Corrupted. They were on a path to corrupt the entire galaxy, but there must?ve been a way to stop them other than violence.

Thus Mii embarked on a journey to find a way to save the galaxy, while the galaxy further fell into corruption. Eventually, having heard tales of the stars saving the galaxy from a scourge long ago, he came upon a sentient star, and asked it for help.

?You seek salvation from the Corrupted. You can wield the Light, can you not? Why haven?t you joined the battle yourself??

?I seek salvation from the Corrupted, as well as salvation for the Corrupted.?

?Yet, the longer you journey, the less there is to save. Eventually, there will be none.?

?Then what am I to do? How can I save the most people??

?It?s simple. Burn those who would burn others.?

So the star finished speaking. Mii was hesitant to accept its answer. He returned home to ponder the star?s advice.

But when he returned, he found his world destroyed. Finally, Mii made a decision. He felt starfire burn his skin, char his bones, boil his eyes.

Few could withstand the gift of the stars.

But Mii was one of those few.

Thus, the Ashen Saint brought fire to all the Corrupted who had left the centre, giving them a choice: hide in the centre forever and perhaps some day find redemption, or ever step out and burn.

...might have become Inaltur, though I'm not 100% sure about that one. Anyway, the stories of these saints were a joy to read, and a fun possible origin for your galaxy's name.

There's a LOT to unpack here, so many references to past stuff, like the origin of the Shroudrend, the summoning of the Loathspace Leviathan, the Starlight Defense, the "Corrupted" who may or may not be the Grox... and then Saint Mii himself who...
