Description

[Legacy of Odyssey 1/3]
Mikhos, the God of Odyssey, was the manifestation of creaturekind's urges to set out into the endless cosmos to seek adventures. Mikhos himself was never a deity content with simply watching mortal affairs unfold. He wanted to experience the bliss of pioneering, the joy of venturing, and the unfolding of relationships between him and his crew. In essence, he wished to trek Miikka64's galaxy as a mortal adventurer. Due to him being a rather weak god, as he became a conscious being only at the dawn of the 12th Cycle, it took Mikhos that entire era to fashion himself a vessel [body] that could sustain some of his divinity. The rest he locked inside the core of a spacecraft he had forged out of his own true form, as Mikhos had no plans of resuming his divine duties despite not relinquishing his divine seat over Odyssey. This spacecraft, unceremoniously named the "Perpetual Pioneer," was to serve as his home and a means to travel and adventure through the galaxy for all eternity, with the intention to eventually visit every known and unknown star and planet at least once.

The first part of his plan was to gather up a crew for his eternal voyage, as the god believed no journey is worthwhile without someone to share the experience with. Using his powers, the deity fashioned himself a compass, which could sense the most promising candidates among the creatures of the galaxy; those who were not satisfied with their lives, who felt a void in their souls, and had a strong will to seek out something greater and to go further than life ever offered them. Mikhos' compass would direct him towards these individuals, so he could recruit them to his crew, promising a life full of excitement, wonders, and the fulfillment of their wildest dreams. To serve aboard the Perpetual Pioneer was also to become a Prodigy of Odyssey ? a carrier of Mikhos' essence, to be granted the strength to voyage throughout the stars and fulfill their ambitions. In exchange, his crew had to adhere to two rules: never settle, and always look for new horizons. However, if the day would ever come that the crew member would desire to part ways with Mikhos and his expedition, they would be free to do so, but at the cost of losing the powers of a Prodigy, which included extended lifespan, enhanced physicality and other such abilities, all of which would be stripped away and returned to the god to be reallocated into a new crew member.

For several ages, the Perpetual Pioneer sailed throughout the cosmos, carrying Mikhos and his loyal crew from one corner of the galaxy to another. During this time, the god would learn much about mortal experiences, growing in wisdom and humility. Yet, even after countless adventures, the deity remained unsatisfied, yearning for a true challenge ? an endeavor so difficult and taxing that it would grant him an everlasting sense of accomplishment and gratification. However, due to the power and immortality he held, no matter what hurdles Mikhos and his crew faced, they could overcome them with ease, leaving him craving a trial beyond anything imaginable. If the galaxy could not provide him with such a feat, Mikhos was going to create it himself.

As the Perpetual Pioneer began its hundredth tour throughout the galaxy, instead of traveling without a destination as usual, Mikhos instructed the helmsman to sail to his favorite planets ? the ones that he had spent the longest on and made the most memories on, the ones that had needed the most help. Upon arriving at the first planet on his list, the icy world of Varelia, that the crew had saved from the brink of a catastrophic ice age, they discovered a sight of total devastation. The weather was even more bitterly cold than before, and the settlements had been reduced to shambles, covered by thick layers of ice and snow. And even worse, some of the wildlife had mutated into strange, hostile abominations, laying waste to the last pockets of civilization.

Funny how you fashioned a god out of a name my species use for your galaxy. Perhaps that could be looked into at some point?
