Description

Peculiar confusion surrounds this supposed reptilian cryptid of Kenya, making it difficult (if not impossible) to identify. The first account of it was published by Karl Shuker in 1998, relating an alleged sighting by missionary Cal Bombay and his wife. As told to Shuker by colleague William Gibbons, the Bombays were driving through the rift valley in 1963, en route to Nairobi, when they were forced to stop for a large ?lizard? sunning itself on the roadway. They described the reptile as 9-12 feet long, dark gray in colour, with a distinctive sail-like growth on its back. The beast moved after 20 minutes, freeing the Bombays to proceed. Kenyan natives heard their story and identified the creature as Muhuru. Later, when interviewed by Kent Hovind, the Bombays choose a drawing of the sail-backed Dimetrodon (a Premian reptile, presumed extinct for 225 million years) as a likeness of Muhuru. That story was strange enough, but Gibbons published his own account of the sighting in 2003, with certain significant changes. First, he placed the sighing in the summer of 1961, then altered the Muhuru?s description to present a 9-foot reptile with a snakelike head, four stubby legs, and ?diamond-shaped serrations about one-half of an inch to three inches in height running from the back of creature?s head to the tip of its tail.? The story was illustrated by crypto-artist Willam Rebsamen, which bore no resemblance whatever to Dimetrodon. Thus, the initial riddle is compounded, leaving latter-day researches to decide which (if either) description of the Muhuru they accept as accurate. (This creation belongs to me, Jonathanrex1. If you see it anyhwere else it's stolen.)

This is neat, very well done. like the design on the skull. Note: Dimetrodon died out 280 million years ago not 225.
