Description

I: We made berth at Riconis Minor, in a slum of pig-iron prefabs where the sound of rain could drive a mind to insanity. A world we would not see fit to sully our boots with did we not need fuel, an utter cesspit of a planet. But there, in the light of dusk, a star rose: a sliver of brilliant light on the horizon. A battleship. Things were in motion that we had not an inkling of. The locals pinned their eyes to the darkening sky in apprehension, animals paced in their cages, and we stood there, wondering at the beauty, and at the encroaching horror.
