The kelpie, also know as the water horse, is a malevolent fairy creature that takes the form of a beautiful horse or maiden in order to lure humans into the water. Once in her domain, unfortunate victims are dragged to the bottom of the river or lake to drown. The kelpie then feasts on her victim, leaving only the heart and liver uneaten.
