Ptolemy's Arrow introduces Tardis Aerospace's 4th Generation Tardis Generator, which is smaller, more powerful and more energy efficient than previous Tardis Generators. The 4th Generation has plenty of energy to both power several consecutive waypoint jumps and keep the passive shields at full power simultaneously. Spaceships like Ptolemy's Arrow that are custom built with the 4th Generation System have the onboard sentient computer system integrated with the Tardis Generator, the passive and active shields, navigation and the normal computer tasks of life support and communications. The active shield systems have been improved so that the skin matrix can absorb and redirect even Gamma Rays. The capacities of controllers hooked into the skin matrix and their storage batteries have also been improved. Major innovations have been made in redirecting the energy absorbed during a firefight into the batteries for the Lasers instead of just being discharged through the weaker Focused Directional Dischargers. The Ptolemy's Arrow is outfitted primarily for exploration and 1st Contact Diplomacy and is equipped with the latest navigational charting system. The crew and guest quarters and amenities are luxury level as are the meeting rooms. Ptolemy's Arrow was named in honor of the scientific, mathematics and geographic contributions of Claudius Ptolemaeus, a Roman who lived in Egypt from about 90-168 AD. His influence on today's cartography and navigation can be seen on any map or chart that shows the longitudinal and meridian lines oriented to the north. The Arrow, of course, refers to the arrow of a compass which points to magnetic north.
