Description

Time: One Alpha Cycle after Holy War 1. --- Following the defeat of Dai Zuroth, the reputation of demons across the universe seemed to be irrevocably stained. They were viewed by all to be agents of destruction, and it seemed that they would never be able to redeem themselves. However, one idealistic demon refused to believe that hyn?s kind would forever be shunned. Hyn?s name was Maurus, hailing from the Abyss clan, and khe had a grand plan as to just how khe would reestablish the reputation of demons: Khe believed that if khe could peacefully unite all of the demon clans, the other universal factions and races would come to respect them once again. While many scoffed at his plan and deemed it absurd, Maurus held true to his ideals and was determined to make hyn?s dream into a reality. Thanks to hyn?s charismatic personality (especially as an orator) and ideas of ?demon pride,? khe was able to become the leader of hyn's clan and take on the title of ?Lord? so khe could distance himself from Dai Zuroth. Using all the resources khe could, khe created a variety of internal improvement projects so the rather impoverished Abyss clan could pull itself together. New homes were built, roads were improved, and there were actually a few programs that, in human terms, provided welfare for the less fortunate. Word spread of Maurus?s successfully implemented ideas and khe started to become well-known by demons across the universe. Eventually, after roughly a solar cycle of success, Maurus went on a diplomatic mission to the Inferno clan and asked them if they would join hyn and his new demon alliance. Inferno, being a rather small and poor clan, gladly obliged Maurus?s offer and took up hyn's service projects. After several more such missions, Maurus?s alliance was bigger than any single clan in the universe, Hell included. At one point, Maurus visited Daxtian-42 to assuage the Order?s worries that hyn?s alliance was a threat to the universe, just as Hell was only a mere Alpha Cycle ago. The agents were shocked at just how ?civilized? and ?intelligent? Maurus was, especially given hyn?s grotesque appearance. Maurus appealed to the demigods themselves, and assured them that the demon alliance had no hostile intentions for the rest of the universe. However, for all of Maurus?s success, he wasn?t untouchable. Dai Goroth was becoming increasingly nervous, as Hell was no longer the dominant force amongst demons in the universe, and he had no intentions of joining Lord Maurus?s ?alliance.? Convinced that the reason for the success of the demon alliance was Maurus himself, Dai Goroth hired two mercenaries to eliminate the demon lord without triggering a full-scale war. While Maurus was off campaigning amongst the Apocrypha clan, he was attacked by the two immortal assassins. Hyn?s bodyguards were quickly dispatched, and Maurus hynself was left to be finished off by the considerably more powerful mercenaries. A decapitated Maurus was discovered mere breems later, with no traces of the killers in sight. Without Maurus?s charisma and leadership, the alliance quickly fell apart, shattering the potential for demon redemption seemingly permanently. The clans went their separate ways, dismayed by the death of the charismatic demon lord. In addition to this, two immortals had now established reputations as premier mercenaries... their names were Vernichtung and Krankheit.
