Description

The Jultenelo are an extraterrestrial race of reptilian like humanoids from the agrarian planet Jarrahe. These are the planet?s only marine lizards, having evolved to inhabit the Islands and coasts of their world in small colonies. This species is extremely aggressive and highly competitive, often infighting with one another or waging war for territory with other colonies. In the absence of mammalian or mammal like predators, they?ve have adapted well to the harsh marine environment. Superficially they resemble large, 6ft5 lizards on average, though they have evolved blunt noses and extremely strong, double hinged jaws for grazing on thick seaweed, bony fishes, and resilient shellfish. The vast majority of individuals in each colony feed almost exclusively on marine algae in the intertidal zones during low tide. They also possess laterally flattened tails to assist swimming, and powerful limbs with strong claws to help them cling to rocks and rip apart prey. They are blue-grey to black in color, though during the mating season they may have blotches of coppery green on their scaled body which may result from the consumption of a particular seaweed that blooms in the summer months. These beasts have extremely thick, large dorsal scales running from the head to the tail, while their undersides remain relatively soft skinned. Males are considerably larger than females, though the sexes are similar in appearance. Females lay between one and six eggs up to 300 meters inland, in sand or volcanic ash burrows. Females often guard the burrows for several days then leave the eggs to finish incubation. When the young hatch they look like and act like miniature adults, and have no parental care. Juveniles also look the same, but are generally darker in color. Most often they are active during the day and spend the first few hours after sunrise basking in the sun in preparation for activity.
