Description
Dozens of them descended upon us from the inky darkness beyond our lights? reach, encircling our little expedition with blinding speed and weapons raised towards us. That was when we officially met our insectoid friends the Kryllion. They were tall, lanky, walking bugs covered in a thick, sickly green exoskeleton that oozed the same toxic cocktail that drenched the cavern. At the time this terrified us. We thought they might?ve been some kind of Grox slave race or abomination. Apparently they thought the same about us. The once eerily peaceful scene exploded into a series deep alien clicking, hissing, and our soldiers? roars and electronic ambience as our suits? defensive systems came online and we too raised weapons to bear. Both sides barked orders at one another, waving weaponry wildly as my colleagues and I attempted to calm the situation. Our Collective representative/Protocol droid frantically tried to keep pace with and decode their violent chitters and hisses. Things were escalating quickly and it became apparent that things were gonna end up getting pretty ugly if they kept up the way they had. Against every instinct that screamed and pounded within my skull?I began walking towards the biggest bugger I could find, leaving the safety of my group. All the while my commander roared and spat in my direction, ordering me to come back. But I pressed on. I couldn?t speak, my voice croaked with fear and I so desperately wanted to turn. Yet my legs carried me forward on their own. Slowly, I raised a hand and brushed the dust off of my faceplate, showing them all my face as my other hand raised also. A deathly silent hush befell the room. I extended my arm, reaching out to them.
And astoundingly yet very hesitantly?.they reached back.
