Description
When it comes to the naming scheme of the Queendom?s ship designs, there is an universal standard all designs follow. The first part of three letters come from the planet, the city and the shipyard that invented the design, and each design has its own serial number. Many ship models also earn a sobriquet of some kind.
In the case of the SCA-700 model, the initial prototype was constructed on planet Sakon, in the shipyard Arjecn located in the city of Comorin. Sakon was one of the first colonized planets that make up the Forges, a string of industrial worlds that serve as the beating, mechanical heart of the Xocal?Inac Queendom. Due to the design's effectiveness as a battlecarrier, it is now manufactured in numerous shipyards across the Queendom.
This large vessel of the ?battlecarrier? classification typically employs up to 20 000 personnel, including warriors. Supporting such a population on a prolonged campaign can prove difficult in the isolation of space, so xocals employ hibernation chambers in shifts to relieve the stress on resources.
Since the SCA-700, also known as ?Carn?, is a battlecarrier, it hosts a large collection of smaller combat models such as ramships and flockers. Typically knights have their personal vessels with their own crews, whereas warriors are generally transported via atmocarriers or ramships, atmocarriers being medium-sized crafts that can descend on a planet and ramships being essentially battering rams that latch on enemy vessels to board them.
Carns themselves are not able to land on a planet or partake in combat. Instead, they serve as a mobile base of operations during a battle, capable of rapidly deploying forces, transmitting orders, repairing vessels, and traversing fast due to the powerful Constant-Pylons embedded within. These battlecarriers are protected not only via their highly enforced hull, but also by a vast fleet of defensive flocker-ships.
Though the Queendom is one of the lower-technology empires in the galaxy, they are far from technologically inept. Their Constants are among the finest in the galaxy, largely due to Sakon?s large supplies of megagonium, an essential material for these g-force manipulation devices. But while fortune saw fit to endow the Queendom with this precious material, many other essential resources ended up scarce, which is one of the possible reasons why the Queendom?s general level of technology has stagnated. While the Forges produce a lot of generic but useful metals and fuel, they are lacking in some of the rarer materials required for advanced technologies. Trade agreements between the Tradaarium Union and the Golden Court have alleviated this need somewhat, but advanced tech still remains uncommon across the Queendom.
As the SCA-700 doesn?t require any of the said advanced technology and has proven reliable over centuries of battles, it has become one of the mainstay models to use whenever the Queendom embarks on an extended campaign. When the time comes for a crusade, hundreds or even thousands of these battlecarriers load up warriors and knights across the Queendom and head to war.
