Description

Constellaris is one of the biggest (semi)organized religions in Benjimus, with some presence in some other galaxies in the Finnverse Cluster as well. It is not often brought up when discussing historical events such as the religious wars, because unlike other big faiths like those of Spode and the God That Will Come, Constellaris has no universally agreed upon deity to worship. In fact, due to its massive spread over the galaxy, the way the faith manifests itself varies greatly.

The main commonality between sects of Constellaris, and the overall foundation of the religion, is the reverence of stars. Stars are often considered holy, spiritual or otherwise meaningful. Many Constellarists practice the study and deciphering of constellations, believing the patterns in the stars may hold great meaning, some even believing their place and motion to be the source code of the universe itself. Others may hold a more utilitarian view, and value stars for what they are to most lifeforms: cradles of light and warmth that creates and nurtures life. These sects tend to practise their worship via study and conservation of the physical stars themselves, with some taking it as far as to creating artificial stars themselves.

Some sects even view stars as living beings themselves, or hosts to beings referred to as ?star children? or "flarebeings", which may come closest to deity-based religion. More fringe sects spread the word of the ?Rapture of Stars?, a doomsday event where the stars will swallow up the galaxy in a great inferno, like they may have before. As to what might trigger this event, or whether it has actually happened in the past, may be a topic some sects disagree on.

What makes Constellaris such a wide-spread religion is the phenomenon that many developing civilizations create similar religions themselves, which tend to reform or join existing Constellaris sects once they come to interact with the wide galactic community. Stars are, after all, one of the few universal constants that many developing civilizations share, and one of the common traits of an intelligent species that manages to bring their civilization to the galactic stage is inquisitiveness and a desire to make sense of the unknown. And what such mind would not try to make sense of a dark starry night sky filled with wonder and mystery?

In the Nations of Zer, for example, Constellaris, while not a prominent part of general zergular society, does have a meaningful place in some communities. These faithful zergulars tend to practice Starspotting, the practice of traveling to different locations in the galaxy to record, discover and generally experience specific or new star constellations.

Starspotters tend to identify strongly with a specific constellation, or a group of them, and there are many schools of thought regarding one?s relationship to these specific star patterns. Some believe they can live a fulfilling life if they live in a part of the galaxy where they can view the specific constellation. Others believe it?s not one pattern or location itself that?s important, but the stars themselves, and how their constellation shape changes can be interpreted differently depending on your location in the galaxy.

There are numerous different approaches to Starspotting, and while many hold great value to the practice and organize pilgrimages to places where they can view stars in specific patterns, some practitioners are content with occasionally looking in the dark night sky and seeing their familiar guarding constellation watching over them.

Incredible outfitting, and very thoughtful lore. I'm fascinated by their religion and tbh I kind of vibe with it

A cosmic religion without a true deity centered around harmless stargazing? Now there's a faith even I can get behind, and I wouldn't be surprised if it has spread to Mikhos. Keep on shining, you wonderful star enthusiasts!.. Also, that apron is adorable.

Been awhile since you posted, for some reason Spore won't let me download more than fifteen creatures and it can only download your newest ones.
